Best Spots to Visit in Rome

The Pantheon

This is one of the best-preserved architecture from the ancient period in Rome, Italy. Unfortunately, it was burnt thrice. The Pantheon was built by a great Roman emperor, Hadrian, and dedicated about 126 A.D. During the 7th century, the Pantheon is used as a chapel. The two Italian Kings, Vittoria Emanuelle II, Umberto I, and a Queen, Margherita are buried in the Pantheon.

The Colosseum

Another factor that makes Rome a famous city is the Colosseum. The Colosseum was built in 70 A.D as part of an imperial effort to reinvigorate Rome after the tumultuous year of the four emperors, 69 A.D. During the ancient period, they used the Colosseum to be an entertainment venue. In addition to that, they also used Colosseum in hosting gladiator fights, animal hunts, and even mock naval clash.

The historical colosseum can hold up to 80.000 visitors! So, imagine how big and spacious it is.

Altar of the Fatherland

Before or after heading to the Colosseum, you may want to make a stop in the Altar of the Fatherland. A national monument built in honor of Victor Emmanuel II, the first king of Unified Italy, Altar of the Fatherland is standing. The monument is also known as Altare della Partia or Il Vittoriano in Italian.

St. Peter’s Square

In the center of Saint Peter’s Square, the obelisk stands, which is 25.5 meters tall or 41 meters including its base. The Obelisk was carried to Rome from Heliopolis in Egypt in 1586.

Piazza Navona

Piazza Navona is nestled between well-known restaurants, along with a beautiful backdrop of Chiesa di Sant’Agnese in Agone, make this area a charming place to see. The piazza is very spacious. As a matter of fact, try to sit during afternoon time and witness some artists performing in the center of Piazza Navona.

Navona Square is a perfect place to de-stress, pause, rest, indulge in some Italian gelato, and take in the atmosphere Rome has to offer. This is to say that Rome is not only about taking your time but also enjoying your time.

Spanish Steps and Fontana della Barcaccia

Ready to climb? With 135 steps, Spanish Steps is a very good place to sit and relax while enjoying the company. The Spanish Steps are a set of steps in Rome, Italy, ascending a steep slope between the Piazza di Spagna (at the base) and Piazza Trinità dei Monti, dominated by the Trinità dei Monti church (at the top).

Right in front of the famous tramps, Fontana della Barcaccia is shining. The scenic beauty of Fontana Della Baraccia at night is superb. Anyway, Pietro Bernini, father of the famous Gian Lorenzo Bernini is the designer of the fountain.
